It’s been over a year since my last blog post (not even kidding, an ACTUAL year). My last post was about my winter trip to California, and coincidentally, I’m back in California again. This time, we’re staying in Del Mar right next to Torrey Pines—great views, and great hiking!
So much has changed that I can’t even give a full update, but I wanted to share some of my latest work. I’m still working freelance (full-time) for STYLECASTER.COM. Jessica Teves from Style.com joined our team as Editor-in-Chief a few months back and a LOT of good changes have happened ever since. We also hired an amazing Creative Director, Melissa Medevich. I’m learning so much from her. She previously worked at SLAM magazine, and her husband, Tom, is an awesome photographer. The two of them have been whipping up some amazing creative work for SC. We are seriously building a dream team and I’m really excited about it!
I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this before, but in addition to being an editorial and graphic designer, I also manage the STYLECASTER Pinterest account. I LOVE it. I’m a huge geek when it comes to social media (especially Pinterest), and I love learning everything there is to know about SEO. I’ve grown our account to over 400k followers—pretty proud of that. It’s such an interesting and fun platform to work in. Custom social media graphics play a big part in what we do, and I’ve actually started to see legitimate job listings asking specifically for “Social Media Graphic Designers”. Occasionally I get to create Instagram graphics for the @STYLECASTER IG account too (like the one above). What a world we live in!
I’ve been thinking about writing an article to share some of my Pinterest tips & tricks.
Would that interest any of you? LMK in the comments!
The ZODIAC GUIDE to PERFUME
As a spin-off to our zodiac series we interview a fragrance specialist from NOVA perfumes. She offered her expertise and picked fragrances for each astrology sign—super interesting and weirdly accurate. I reused the illustrated zodiac symbols from our monthly horoscope art (above) and placed each perfume bottle on a colorful watercolor wash background. LOVE how they came out. Check out the whole gallery here.
There’s a ton more to share, but I’ll save that for another post. x
p.s. We also adopted an insanely adorable Aussie/Lab mix. We named her Dakota. :)
Until next time. XO – C
